Respiratory Pathogen Panel ( R.P.P. ) is a qualitative test intended for simultaneous detection and identification of nucleic acids from multiple respiratory viruses and bacteria extracted from nasopharyngeal swabs collected from individuals with clinical signs and symptoms of a respiratory tract infection.

The RPP (R.P.P.) Respiratory Pathogen Panel testing is indicated as an aid in the detection and identification of viral and bacterial agents causing respiratory tract infections in symptomatic adult and pediatric patients, who are either hospitalized, admitted to emergency departments or who are outpatients with suspected respiratory tract infection.

Respiratory pathogens cause acute local and systemic disease of varying severity, with the most severe cases occurring in children, the elderly and immunocompromised patients. The similarity of diseases caused by many viruses and bacteria, diagnosis based on clinical symptoms.

NOTE: Test must be administered and results reported by a licensed provider. Tests will not be sold to individuals.
